IPL-7 to be held in Bangladesh?

The 7th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL-7) may not be held in India because of Lok Sabha elections.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are likely to host all the matches of IPL 7, if not all but some matches, according to the report in “The Indian Express” yesterday on Tuesday.

IPL was held in South Africa  because of general elections in 2009. That was the second edition of the high voltage Twenty20 premier league. Deccan Chargers became the champion of IPL-2.

‘A clear picture will emerge after the dates of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced. Until then, we will considering whether to arrange a few games in India and then move to abroad, or vice versa. Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the short journeys, so logically, it will not be much of the problem,’ a BCCI official said to the newspaper.

‘The decision to arrange IPL at South Africa in 2009 has been taken at the very last moment, and nobody expected then that there would be a big issue regarding security. But now we know that such situation could arise again, and we will be getting prepare for it,’ the official said.

 Indian Premier League is held every year during May and June, might clash with the Lok Sabha elections unless the polls will be advanced. BCCI is in the process of searching out plans for the next season of IPL 7.
The report also included that IPL 7 might be staged in two phases – one in India and other is outside.
At this time, BCCI will not request Cricket South Africa (CSA) to arrange the tournament again. India and South Africa cricket boards have not been in good terms in the recent times after South Africa appointed Haroon Lorgat as its CEO.
