Jeanne Louise Calment
The longest living person in the world was Jeanne Louise Calment who lived to be 122 years old before she met her death on August 4, 1997. She lived her entire life in Arles, France.  Jeanne was born in the 19th century on February 21, 1875 to be specific. This was a year before Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone and a year that Tolstoy published Anna Karennina.

The dear old lady was also a witness of the aeroplane as well as the cinema. She was also able to witness the Eiffel Tower being built firsthand. She took up fencing at the age of 85 and rode bicycle until age 100. She credits her youthful looks to olive oil, which she poured on all of her food and rubbed into her skin as well.

She also drank port wine and consumed one kilogram of chocolate per week. Jeanne died on 4 August 1997 aged 122. Though blind, nearly deaf and in a wheelchair, she remained spirited and mentally sharp to the end.

Interesting Facts About Jellyfish

Jellyfish
One of the most interesting creatures I enjoying watching at aquariums is jellyfish. There's something so quirky and graceful about them. There's also some really cool facts about them.

For example, did you know that jellyfish have been around since before the time of the dinosaurs? You may have noticed that they have tentacles that hang down their bodies, just as Medusa of Greek mythology has snakes hanging from her head. Could it be more than coincidence that another name for jellyfish is medusa?

Although they are called jelly"fish," they are not actual fish. Rather, they are plankton. Another interesting fact about jellyfish is that they don't have brains. I was quite surprised when I found that out.

If you've ever been stung by a jellyfish, you know how much it hurts. That's because when they sting, they release toxin into you. While some jellyfish are tiny, others can grow to be larger than a human being.

The average life span of a jellyfish is about a year. For food, it dines on fish, small animals and plants. A particular type of jellyfish, known as Turritopsis Nutricula, is capable of regeneration.

I hope you've enjoyed these fun facts and if you have some of your own, please feel free to add them in the comment box.

Liestning music
Have you ever noticed that when you are in the car and listening to upbeat music you get excited, or when relaxing, calm music helps you settle down?. A study conducted by Luciano Bernadi Professor of medicine at the University of Pavia, Italy and his colleagues,  Bernadi and his team found that musical tempo affected changes that occur in our cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The study involved 24 volunteers. They were exposed to five random selections of Beethoven, Bach , Puccini and other classical artists.  the sessions involved a segment of silence stretching for few minutes, with monitors recording physiological signals. The researchers established that the music with crescendos, particularly those with a series of them, made the blood vessels constrict proportionally and a rise in blood pressure and respiration. These slowed down during the decrescendos and periods of silence.
